Empowering the Deori Community — দেউৰী সমাজক সক্ষম কৰা

The Deori Community, recognized as a Scheduled Tribe (Plains), has been an integral part of Assam's cultural landscape for centuries. With a population of approximately three and a half lakh, the Deoris are distributed across seven upper Assam districts: Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia.

Despite their significant presence and rich cultural heritage, the community faced challenges in having their voices heard in decision-making processes. The establishment of the Deori Autonomous Council under the visionary leadership of Shri Tarun Gogoi marked a historic milestone in addressing these concerns.
